DESCRIPTION:
Hodaka Wombat. The durable dirt bike you can ride on the street. The dependable product of a ten year engineering program with proven performance common to HODAKA.
An invincible philosophy of sticking to one basic, proven design and improving on it has created a unique motorcycle . . . Hodaka . . . it's an attitude.
An attitude on the part of the engineers and the factory . . . one of unhurried, critical quality control. Form following function rather than trend . . . performance and durability meeting severe testing criteria rather than merely matching competing models.
It's an attitude on the part of Hodaka riders . . . an attitude that owning Hodaka marks them as knowledgeable motorcyclists who have compared and found a durable, dependable performance machine, lacking the aggravation of forced obsolesence.
Hodaka is an honest motorcycle. It's an Enduro bike because of its features, not just because we call it one. There are European light weight enduros for hundreds of dollars more and Japanese makes for a few dollars less.
Compare their equipment and features carefully.
Let's get down to geometry. A long 52.5 inch wheelbase, 30.75 inch seat height and a crankshaft at only 14.75 inches above ground gives you a low center of gravity and far better handling and balance. Hodaka's folding, serrated steel footpegs adjust so you don't have to peek over your knees or feel like you're being stretched on some medieval rack.
Hodaka has what it takes to be what's most fun. And we think our no-compromise attitude in building you a Hodaka will result in a no-compromise attitude on your part in making it your choice. For the address of your nearest Hodaka dealer, Canadian readers should write to Gemini Ind., Ltd., 2525 Stephens St., Vancouver, B.C. Australian inquiries can be set to Minilya Pty., Ltd., P.O. Box 209. S. Mel-. bourne. Australia 32Q5.
COMBAT WOMBAT ‘FOUR-SLICER’
Hodaka's Combat seems to bring out the comedian in test writers. We got a lot of comments about the bike looking weird or funky, or they say it looks like a giant four-slice toaster. Oh well.
It's all compliments to us. Because if you read further, you'll find that they mention first-kick starting, decent handling, and all the right kinds of horsepower.
We took our basic trail bike and built it up into a racer. There were two things we wanted to keep: our legendary reliability, and the fun. Bike riding's supposed to be fun, right?
If the magazines have fun riding and writing about the Combat, we must have succeeded. Want to know how we did it? Fill in the coupon and send it to us. Canadian readers should write to Gemini Ind., Ltd., 2525 Stephens Street, Vancouver, B.C. Australian inquiries can be sent to Minilya Pty, Ltd.. P. O. Box 209. S. Melbourne, Australia 3205.
