If anyone with a 2013-2020 Ford F150 2.7 or 3.5 Ecoboost has ever heard of the VTA mod, this is the easiest, cheapest, quickest and most easily reversible way to go about it. VTA stands for "Vent To Atmostphere". What the VTA mod does, is allows you to hear the turbos in your truck blowing off excess pressure, amounting to a loud "HISS" or "WHOOSH" sound when you let off the throttle. Ford has done an incredible job of keeping these trucks close to being silent, but not everyone likes them that way! The way these trucks are setup from the factory, is to vent the excess pressure from the blow off valve back into the air intake system so that the sound is attenuated and virtually unheard. This has nothing to do with emissions or performance, its only to attenuate sound.
What I am selling is a precisely machined plug that will allow you to safely and easily vent your blow off valve to the atmosphere and provide that indistinguishable turbo "hiss".
The best part, it takes 10 seconds to install, is completely reversible, and takes 10 seconds to return to stock!
There is a large hose that connects the intake system to the blow off valve with a quick connect, snap on/snap off coupling. To install this plug, simply unhook the quick connect coupling from the blow off valve (located on bottom drivers side corner of intercooler, just behind front bumper), snap in this precisely machined plug, and zip tie the hose to the top of the blow off valve outlet so its not flopping around. Thats it, the VTA mod is complete! To reverse, snap the plug back out of the quick connect coupling, and connect the hose back up to the blow off valve, done!
This will not work for the 2012 down F150, they use a different configuration with 2 mechanical blow off valves where as the 2013 and up just uses one single electronic blow off valve located on the intercooler.
I manufacture these plugs myself, installation is extremely simple but just in case you need any guidance I will be happy to assist, feel free to ask any questions.
Please view my feedback regarding this item!
I have posted two videos of my personal truck with the plug installed, one is driving with the windows down, and the other is with the truck parked and revving while holding the brakes in. With the truck parked it was only reaching very low boost, under 1psi, a stock truck will get up around 15psi boost when driving and be much much louder and aggressive sounding.
I will even include 1 black zip tie to secure the hose to the top of the blow off valve!
