Description
Chicago politician Isaac Cook established the company in 1859 and put his own name on the Champagne, made mostly with California grapes (these days, most wines labeled Champagne must come from grapes grown in the Champagne region of France).Cook's Imperial (champagne) was trade marked by the American Wine Co. of St. Louis April 20, 1896, but they had been using the name since 1875. This paperweight is circa 1900. The glass is perfect, but part of the waxed plaster on the reverse has broken away. There is no damage to the advertising underneath. This champagne is still available in your local grocery store.
