Description
Antique, ORIGINAL (ca 1880) rated RR (very rare) "The 3 Chorister's" jar pot lid.Pretty good condition...just a tiny smidgen "touch up" on the outer rim perimeter....hardly much, and difficult to even notice.(pic 6 ) The base section is NOT the original companion to the lid but is drawn from my supply of spares and is from more or less the same time period. It is a reasonable fit. Has slight overlap and color hue is more more greyish.....but serves to fulfill the purpose of displaying this lid far better than without a base section. Please check out all the pics, and if you have any questions, please ask them prior to placing a bid. Thanks
You are bidding on an antique, ORIGINAL, (ca 1880) rated RR (very rare)...(in Mortimer's Reference book), overglaze transferred "pot lid" with base section. This lid is known as "The 3 Chorister's" and, as you can see, depicts three choir boys in a traditional church setting. The lid measures 3 1/2" in diameter and the complete jar stands 1 5/8" tall when the lid is in place on the base section.
Super antique piece to add to a collection...or just to display as an antique ornament, somewhere strategic in your home!
Condition: For condition report please see "Item specifics/Seller notes" above and check out all the pics as they form an important part of the overall description.
FOR VIEWERS WHO MAY NOT BE FAMILIAR WITH THESE DELIGHTFUL LITTLE LIDDED JARS....THEY WERE USED BETWEEN APPROX. 1840-1920 TO MARKET VARIOUS PRODUCTS WHICH CAME IN A PASTE FORM. AFTER WWI THEY BECAME OBSOLETE AS MORE MODERN AND ECONOMICAL FORMS OF PACKAGING REPLACED THEM. THE RECOVERY AND COLLECTING OF THESE OLD PIECES HAS BECOME A POPULAR, WORLD-WIDE HOBBY, AND A QUAINT REMINDER OF A BYGONE ERA. BE ASSURED, YOU ARE BIDDING ON A GENUINE AND AUTHENTIC PERIOD PIECE.
