    Description

On offer is this antique, ceramic, under the glaze transferred "pot lid" featuring OSBORNE HOUSE, a summer retreat for
    Queen Victoria and Prince Albert
, during the Victorian era. This lid is
rated as RR (very rare) in Mortimer's reference book
. In addition it has a
    very faint, extra,
    outer gold band
on the outer perimeter of the face
...not even referenced by Mortimer's guide!
The lid is quite large, measuring 5 1/8" in diameter and is in good condition! No base section provided. Lid only.
    Histor
    y: This Royal residence was
    built  between 1845-1851
    as a
summer retreat for Queen Victoria and her husband Prince Albert
. It was located on the
northern part of the Isle of Wight
. The Royal couple liked to go there as a "getaway" from the busy-ness of the affairs of state. Prince Albert designed the house himself. The House has been used for various functions and uses since Victorian times.
    Queen Victoria
actually died in this house (Osborne House) in
    January 1901
    .
