A often forgotten tool that no well equipped wood shop should be without! The use of pantographs goes well back in human history. This clever mechanical contraption is easy to understand and setup to use -- that is after you get the hang of it -- you can cut and carve almost anything within reason -- mostly intended for 2D and this tool with skill can also carve relief with some 3D action.
Ever wonder how they cut designs, art and letters perfect in wood and metal before giant expensive CNC computer machines? The pantograph was and still is the easiest way to setup cutting or engraving with perfecton on a small scale.
With skill, time and even the latest computerized wood cutting gear can’t match the speed and efficiency of a Pantograph, properly applied.
This was a popular model back in the late 1970s, seldom found unused in the box.
Back in the 1970s and 80s -- a few power tool companies still built and designed then as accessories (in this case black & decker) --  Pantographs are no longer sold in stores or common at all. And as far as I know, these are no longer Made in USA out of high quality metal hardware and thick very sturdy plastic -- far better than the awfulness you might see at Harbor Freight! -- this vintage survivor most certainly is an nice one.
While it appears to be some what universal fit -- it’s sure to fit some routers and not others. Do your research via google or ask around and study the large photos below. If this well known #76-232 fits this bill -- you would be hard pressed to find a nicer one, still unused in it’s original box.
Includes all you see in the photo and looks really untouched. The big folder is full of properly scaled templates for cutting letters right away. There us no manual present -- so you’ll have to find that online, watch some youtube videos  or figure it out as you go using photos on the box.
So, with the Pandemic on -- what you really need to do is get your wood shop going! Few accessories can buff up your capability like a router pantograph -- the limits are only your imagination -- worktop factory quality within reach for thousands less than a CNC machine.
