DOMESTIC DYE BOTTLE-Geo.H.Reed-Boston-c.1870s
Offered is a selection consisting of one authentic Dye Bottle, dating between 1870 and 1880s
.
The lot includes:
A 4 1/4" tall, 2" wide, 1" thick, aqua rectangular bottle having a stubby neck and square collar lip. Embossed in sunken front panel is "Geo.H.Reed & Co. / Boston / Domestic Dyes". Bottom features a small indented round area. Not sure if this was a Hair or Leather dye.
The bottle has been dug, has the usual ground hazing, no damage. The embossment has been highlighted for photo with a dark marker, could easily be removed with nail polish remover.
