Description
Offered Here, is an Original, Antique, Mid-to-Late 19th. Century Free-Blown, Barber or Cologne Bottle.Measuring about 6 1/2” High,
The Bottle is Blown of Clear (Probably) "Flint-Glass" and has an Exceptionally Crude + Nice-Hand-"Applied" Outwardly Flared Lip, which is Crooked with Great Looking Antique Character and Charm. The Sides of the Bottle were Hand-Painted by a Glass-Factory Artist Using Gold-Leaf for Tiny Floral or Other Patterns. The Base is a Rough or "Sand-Chip" Style Pontil-Scar, that also has a Hand-Painted Number Nearby, which Must have Designated the Glass Workers Daily Inventory.
*****This Bottle was Actually Acquired at an Antique Estate-Selling Venue in the Town of Sandwich Massachusetts, and Only a Few Miles from where the Boston + Sandwich Glass Company (1825-88) was in Operation Manufacturing Fine, Crystal "Flint-Glass" Household and Tableware Glass Items of Fine Quality for Use in American Homes of Greater New England, Predominantly. There is a Good Likelihood that this Bottle May be a Product of the B + S Glass Works, Since it Does Look, to me, to be an American Made Flint-Glass Cologne Bottle.*****
CONDITION: Excellent, Original, Antique, New England "Estate-Acquired" Condition w/ NO FORMS OF "DAMAGE", NO BREAKS, NO CHIPS, NO CRACKS, NO STRIKES OR IMPACT-DINGS. NO DISTRACTING, SCUFFS OR ABRASIONS, NO DISTRACTING CLOUDINESS OR INSIDE / OUTSIDE STAINING.. Some of the Gold-Leaf Hand-Painted Designs are Missing or Weak as appears in the Photos. Glass-Stopper is Without any Damage. Very Clean + Very Nice ~ !!
