    Description

RARE MCM Felipe Derflingher Brutalist Imprisoned Glass 12 approximately 4 inches tall Amber shot Glasses.
This vintage Mid Century Modern Brutalist Felipe Derflingher hand blown imprisoned glass 12 piece set is an incredibly special and unusual set to add to your collection. Each glass was individually handcrafted and has their own specific characterization they do fluctuate in size (again that is due to each one being hand crafted with varying shapes and sizes). Each Pontil shows a different characterization as well some are crude while others are nice.
Handmade in the Mid Century in Mexico City by the Modernist artisan glass blower Felipe Derflingher. He called it “ Imprisoned Glass “ sometimes known as cage glass. Made by welding brass metal (with diamond, square, or circle cut outs ) this particular set is circle cut outs…into cylinders and hand blowing molten glass from broken bottles into the cylinder so it bulges through the openings. The metal is then discolored under intense heat to give it the blackened look and feel of Medieval craftsmanship.
They are in original vintage condition with no chips, cracks, to the rim of glass (there are a couple pieces that have small chips to the bottom this is to be expected due to age and pontil) The metal has a nice age patina including a little rust. Please see photos, circa 1960s.
Your guests will think any drink you serve them from these tall slider shot glasses they are magnificently exotic!
Just look at the way the amber blown glass oozes through the circular cuts in the metal bands.
These awesome Brutalist handmade and designed by the famed Filipe Derflingher in the Mexico City Feders workshop circa 1960s.
Derflingher’s work was well received by the design community. Alexander Girard was so enamored he sourced them as the barware in the La Fonda del Sol restaurant in New York City, which was renowned for its groundbreaking design. This set will look amazing in your bar and will wow your guests and family. Make them yours! Sizes: (measures are approximate since these pieces are handmade and vary in size) Approximately 3-3/4 tall
