    Description

    AVID ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES
are proud to offer, for your consideration, this
AMAZING HISTORICALLY SIGNIFICANT 1929 PROHIBITION ERA MEDICINAL PERMITTED G. H. MUMM CORDON ROUGE CHAMPAGNE CRATE
    in fabulous condition.
We have found an absolute treasure in this EXTREMELY RARE 1929 PROHIBITION ERA G.H. Mumm Champagne crate.  The history behind this case is amazing.  During prohibition alcohol, in this case champagne, could only be prescribed by a physician.  This case is marked with "I. PERMIT 564".  This is the same FDA Emergency Medical Authorization used for the COVID vaccine.  It seems that politicians have been creating loopholes for quite a while and who knew champagne was a medical necessity. The bottom of the box has a name "I Kronheim" and "Washington D.C.".  I searched the American Medical Association web site for a Dr. I. Kronheim that practiced medicine in Washington D.C. in 1929.  I found a Dr. Irma Cronheim that practiced medicine in 1929.  I'm unsure if a spelling error was made by the shipper or my search was in vane.  However, the new owner can continue to research the history of this fine piece.
This crate has developed an amazing patina over it's 90 plus years and will be "THE" conversation piece to add to your collection!
This would be a perfect addition to a home bar, museum, pharmacy, liquor store or office!  It was impossible to find another on the internet and it will surely be a hit conversation piece!
This crate of 1929 Cordon Rouge displays extremely well with it's crisp graphics and large size.  9 1/2H x 19"W x 14"D
