    Candelaria Pseudomorph Turquoise Drilled Bead
Here is a nice stone from the Candelaria Turquoise Mine. This mine is another of Nevada's many mines. Turquoise and its rare cousins form mostly in zones that have thin to thick viens and also nuggets. Nuggets will form along side of viens in some cases. But in very rare occurances other forms take shape. Pseudomorphs are a rare formation. Pseudomorph means false form. The original thing that was in the ground has been desolved and in this cavity turquoise forms. Thus the name Pseudomorph. Turquoise has been found in crystal shapes as well as fossil shapes from plants orgin or marine life.Limb cast in turquoise was found in the Lone Montain turquoise mine. In this case small clams. The geoligist say that when these clams died if they were open then only the outer shell will take on the new material. But if the clam stayed shut then the new material will fill the entire clam shape.I do recieve a lot of emails from people that claim that these were not from clams . But many geoligist say that these were from clams. What is certain is that they formed from something that desolved and left these rounded cavities. While the exact original animal or plant source is determined. We in the turquoise world have labeled these as pseudomorph clams . These pseudomorphs in turquoise are still very rare. Here is a piece that I left in most of its natural shape that nature formed it in and I only removed the host rock and polished it.No two stones are ever alike as these nodules grow in all directions and patterns and thickness. The host rock also has several colors and patterns.
The picture that you see the stone in is taken on a graph paper with the squares 1/4 inch each to help you to see the size. I have  taken the picture showing it on a 3mm leather cord to show what it looks like strung .The leather necklace is just an added feature to give it something to be strung on until you find the perfect necklace.
